Measure Your Bra Size

The Manual Method(UK/US)

If you want to work out your bra size yourself, you can use our manual method to calculate your size. This method is the most common manual method used to calculate bra sizes and it’s what our calculator uses to get its result. There are two  measurements involved here, your band size and your cup size.

   Measure your band size

Measure around your ribcage just beneath your bust in inches. If the result is an even number, add 4 to the result. If the measurement is an odd number, add 5 inches.

eg) if your underbust measurement is 30, add 4 to get your band size of 34

Band size: 30 + 4 = 34

eg) if your underbust measurement is 31, add 5 to get your band size of 36

Band size: 31 + 5 = 36

   Get your cup size

To get your cup size, first measure across the fullest part of your bust in inches. Now subtract the band size we got earlier to get our bust difference

eg) if your across bust measurement is 36, and your band size is 34, then the bust difference is 2.

Bust Difference: 36 - 34 = 2

Now look up the difference in the cup size table below to get your cup size. In our example 2 inches is a C Cup.

Example 1

Step1

Julie has an underbust measurement of 30 inches. As this is an even number, she adds 4 to get her band size. 30 + 4 = 34.  So, Julie’s band size is 34.

Step2

Julie measure’s across her bust and gets a result of 36.

Step3

Now we need the difference between the Band size and the across bust figure. So we subtract the bust measurement from the band size.  36 - 34 = 2 inches

Step4

Now we simply look up in our table to find out what cup size a 2 inch difference is.

So, Julie’s Band size is 34, and her cup size is a C. Julie is a 34C.

Example 2

Step1

Tracy has an underbust measurement of 33 inches. As this is an odd number, she adds 5 to get her band size. 33 + 5 = 38.  So, Tracy’s band size is 38.

Step2

Tracy measure’s across her bust and gets a result of 42. To get the cup size we need to look

Step3

Now we need the difference between the Band size and the across bust figure. So we subtract the bust measurement from the band size. 42 - 38 = 4 inches

Step4

Now we simply look up in our table to find out what cup size a 4 inch difference is.

So, Tracey’s Band size is 38, and her cup size is a DD. Tracy is a 38DD.
